Scissor Kick Wins Listed The Rosebud

Monday, 11th August 2014

At Royal Randwick, Arrowfield Stud's Australian champion sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad) celebrated his 116th individual stakes winner when promising 3YO colt Scissor Kick (Redoute's Choice-Back Pass, by Quest for Fame) scored by 0.8-length for trainer Paul Messara in the $100,000 Listed The Rosebud (1200m) for 3YOs, over fellow 3YO colts Better Land (Shamardal-Amelia's Dream, by Redoute's Choice) & Inkling (Duporth-Tarcoola Diamond, by Last Tycoon). This was the first stakes victory for the well bred Scissors Kick who took his record to 2 wins and 1 placing from 3 starts for $93,475 earnings. The 3YO colt's trainer Paul Messara said, "It was a big effort today. He always gives us the impression he wants a bit further as he's such a casual customer. He'll go towards the Golden Rose and then maybe Melbourne for the Caulfield Guineas. That's a race I'd love to get him to." Bred by Jonathan Munz's GSA Bloodstock from Back Pass (by Quest For Fame), Scissor Kick was a $200,000 purchase from the Broadwater Thoroughbreds draft at the 2013 Inglis Easter Sale, and is raced by Arrowfield in partnership with Munz's Pinecliff Racing. Scissor Kick is a full-brother to stakes winner Shark Bite, who stands at Eliza Park Stud in Victoria. Both Scissor Kick and Shark Bite are from the Quest For Fame mare Back Pass, a half-sister to Gr2 winning sire Three Chimneys from the family of Juddmonte Farms' exceptional producer Hasili, dam of outstanding European sire Dansili (Danehill) and Gr1 winners Intercontinental (Danehill), Champs Elysees (Danehill), Cacique (Danehill), Banks Hill (Danehill) and Heat Haze (Green Desert).
