Derby Runner-Up On Track For Ebor Meeting

Tuesday, 12th August 2014

Racing Post Trophy winner Kingston Hill (Mastercraftsman-Audacieuse, by Rainbow Quest) has been entered for both the Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes and the Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes on the opening day of the 4-day Ebor meeting at York next week, reports 1.skysports.com. The Mastercraftsman colt chased home Australia in the Epsom Derby and was last seen finishing fourth in the Gr1 Coral Eclipse at Sandown behind Mukhadram. "We gave Kingston Hill a short break after Sandown and he looks great for it. He is a high-class colt and I think he is set for a good autumn," said trainer Roger Varian. "The plan since Sandown has been to head to York. If we looked like getting a soft-ground for the Juddmonte International, he could go there. If the ground is good, we would more likely head to the Great Voltigeur over a mile and a half." He added, "He also has an entry this weekend at Newbury in the Geoffrey Freer and it is a case of watching the weather and taking a look at all the options."
