Garswood Eyeing Another French Gr1
Garswood (Dutch Art-Penchant, by Kyllachy), who secured his maiden top-flight victory when winning Sunday's Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, will return to France to bid for more Gr1 success in the Prix de la Foret in October, reports racingpost.com. Richard Fahey, who trains the 4YO for David Armstrong and Cheveley Park Stud, on Monday confirmed the Foret, which Garswood was third in last year, as the main target but hinted he could run before then. Fahey mentioned Haydock's Sprint Cup, which the son of Dutch Art would need supplementing for, as an option. "He'll definitely run in the Foret," said the trainer. "I've got to speak to Mr Armstrong and Cheveley Park whether he stops at Haydock or somewhere else. The Foret has always been his target and it was last year when he was beaten by a wonder filly [Moonlight Cloud]. He's a better horse now though." Reflecting on Garswood's Maurice de Gheest victory, Fahey, who was speaking to At The Races, added: "It was great to win a Group 1. The horse deserved it and everything dropped right."
