Anthem Alexander Set For Ebor Meeting

Thursday, 14th August 2014

Meanwhile, Eddie Lynam is considering a start at next week's Ebor Festival at York for exciting Irish filly Anthem Alexander (Starspangledbanner-Lady Alexander, by Night Shift) after she was withdrawn from Sunday's Gr1 Phoenix Stakes due to the soft ground, reports attheraces.com. The Starspangledbanner filly, a brilliant winner of the Gr2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, was favourite to take out Europe's first juvenile Gr1 of the season before heavy rain upset her plans. She holds entries in the Gr2 Lowther Stakes and the Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York next week and both options are now under consideration. "She has a couple of entries in York next week and we will make a decision over the weekend about what we are going to do," said Lynam. "Both races are under careful consideration. I've discussed it with her owner and we are going to talk again later in the week."
