Beach Beauty To Visit Duke Of Marmalade
Champion South African mare and Horse of the Year nominee Beach Beauty (Dynasty-Sun Coast, by Capture Him) will be covered by 5-time Gr1 winner Duke Of Marmalade this season, reports sahracing.com. Beach Beauty was purchased by Drakenstein Stud earlier this season after owner Minou Armitage, widow of Beach Beauty's breeder Trevor Armitage, turned down a larger offer from Australia so she would not be lost to the local industry. The Duke is currently 8th on the European sires lists by stake winners ahead of Danehill Dancer, Dansili, High Chaparral, New Approach, Sea The Stars and Montjeu. Duke Of Marmalade's talented daughter Venus De Milo ran another impressive Gr1 placing over the weekend in the Nassau Stakes and is one of ten first crop stakes winners by the son of Danehill. South African nursery Drakenstein Stud purchased Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill-Love Me True, by Kingmambo) from Coolmore Stud in a deal brokered by Blandford Bloodstock in May of this year. Drakenstein is supporting Duke Of Marmalade in his maiden South African season by sending a number of high profile mares to him. The dams of Afrikaburn (Gr1), Jeppe's Reef (Gr1), Disco Al (Gr3), Madeira Mist (Gr3), Shingwedzi (Gr2 placed) as well as Gr1 winners Lady Windermere and Spar are all booked to visit him this year.
