Carla Bianca To Chase Gr1 Later In Season

Friday, 15th August 2014

Dermot Weld will give gifted mare Carla Bianca (Dansili-Majestic Silver, by Linamix) her chance at Gr1 glory before season's end after she recorded her second consecutive stakes win in the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes (10 furlongs) at Gowran Park in Ireland on Wednesday. The 3YO grey daughter of European heavyweight Dansili gave a glimpse of her potential when finishing runner-up to dual Classic winner Australia on debut in July last year, before finishing fourth behind Rizeena and Tapestry in the Gr1 Moyglare Stud Stakes in September. Slow to come to hand this term, Carla Bianca has now won her last three outings, including the Listed Oaks Trial at Naas at her penultimate start, and Weld is excited about the future. "It was a very pleasing performance with the penalty. It was an exceptionally good Listed race, it was a good Gr3 or Gr2 standard given the pace they ran it at," the master trainer said. "That's her trip (10 furlongs). She's progressed very well from the spring, it took her a bit of time early on so we paced it slowly with her and it's paying very good dividends." He added, "We'll take it one step at a time, we'll find a big one for her before the year is out. Physically she is developing all the time and will make a lovely four-year-old. She loves fast ground and that would be as slow as she can handle."
