Gordon Lord Byron Entered For York

Friday, 15th August 2014

Star UK sprinter Gordon Lord Byron (Byron-Boa Estrela, by Intikhab) is on track to resume in the City of York Stakes at next week's Ebor festival, reports theinformant.co.nz. Irish trainer Tom Hogan is using the seven furlong Listed contest as a prep race for Gordon Lord Byron's title defence of next month's Haydock Sprint Cup. Gordon Lord Byron had a track gallop after Sunday's Phoenix Stakes meeting at The Curragh and Hogan said he was delighted with the 6YOs work. "He is in wonderful form and his work was very exciting," he said. "The City of York Stakes at York on Friday week is his initial target, and then the Haydock Sprint." Gordon Lord Byron, who won the Gr1 George Ryder Stakes in Australia earlier this year, has not been to the races since finishing eighth behind Slade Power in the Gr1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
