Ygritte To Run In Golden Rose

Friday, 15th August 2014

Meanwhile, talented 3YO Snitzel filly Ygritte (Snitzel-Deputy Lil, by French Deputy) will head towards the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on 13 September, reports racingnetwork.com.au. "Yes she'll run in the Golden Rose if she gets into the field," said trainer Gerald Ryan. "It's a million-dollar race on our home track so you can't ignore it." The daughter of Arrowfield's high profile young sire will resume in Saturday's Gr3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens and Ryan says she has returned from her break in good order. "She proved in the autumn she was right up to the best level and she has come back well," he said. "If she runs well on Saturday she'll go to the Run To The Rose (Gr3 on 30 August) then on to the Golden Rose." He added, "Her main aims are the Flight Stakes [Gr1] in Sydney and the Thousand Guineas [Gr1] in Melbourne." After winning on debut in February, Ygritte showed she was among the better fillies of her generation with three consecutive placings at Gr3 level, namely in the Widden Stakes, behind glamour filly Mossfun, the VRC Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, and most recently in the Royal Randwick Stakes in April.
