Australia Confirmed For Juddmonte

Monday, 18th August 2014

Aidan O'Brien has confirmed plans to run star colt Australia (Galileo-Ouija Board, by Cape Cross) in the Gr1 Juddmonte International Stakes (10 furlongs) at York on Wednesday provided track conditions on the day are OK, reports attheraces.com. The Ballydoyle trainer also revealed that his son Joseph will ride the dual Derby winner at his first race in open age company after earlier doubts about O'Brien Jnr's capacity to make the required weight. "The plan is (Australia) will be declared if the ground looks OK in the morning and if everything is OK then he will run," said O'Brien. "He has done very well in his mid-season break and he is ready to go. I would imagine he will come on for it." He added, "Joseph is able to do 8st 12lb. We don't let him do it, although he has done it last year and he will do it when he needs to. We'll leave the decision to him."
