Monday, 18th August 2014

At Newbury in the UK, Cornerstone Stud's 4-time Gr1-winning shuttler Dalakhani (Darshaan-Daltawa, by Miswaki) added a Group success when 6YO gelding Seismos (Dalakhani-Sasuela, by Dashing Blade) scored by a neck for trainer Marco Botti in the 60,000 Gr3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes (13.5 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 7YO gelding Willing Foe (Dynaformer-Thunder Kitten, by Storm Cat) & 5YO mare Seal Of Approval (Authorized-Hannda, by Dr Devious). The Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock-owned Seismos took his record to 7 wins (including the Gr1 Grosser Preis von Bayern & Gr3 Hubertus Liebrecht Gedachtnis Preis) and 5 placings (including the Gr1 Woodbine Canadian International Stakes & Gr1 Grosser Preis von Baden) from 24 starts for £344,758 earnings. Mario Baratti, Botti's assistant, told Racing UK: "He's a strong horse, a fighter, and he needs them to go a good pace.He had good form in Germany and he's stayed well." Asked about a possible tilt at the Melbourne Cup, he went on: "Marco isn't sure if he stays two miles.Maybe his best is a mile and five, but I'm sure we'll take him home and plan something."
