Get The Nod Wins Gr3 Vain Stakes
At Caulfield, stakes-winning Danzig stallion US Ranger (Danzig-My Annette, by Red Ransom) sired his first Australian stakes winner when 3YO gelding Get The Nod (U.S. Ranger-Silent Cash, by Secret Savings) scored by 1.25-lengths for South Australia trainer Lloyd Kennewell in the $150,000 Gr3 Vain Stakes (1100m) for 3YO colts & geldings, over 3YO colt Stingray (Kaphero-Stings, by Fusaichi Pegasus) & fellow 3YO gelding Boomwaa (Mutawaajid-Boom Boom Baby, by True Hero). The exciting Get The Nod maintained his unbeaten record with 2 wins from 2 starts for $109,250 earnings. Trainer Lloyd Kennewell has high hopes for Get The Nod whom he rates as the best horse he has ever trained. "He's as good as we've had, as good as we've got and we've known that for a long time. That's why we put him away straight after he won his first race," Kennewell told TVN. "He is a serious horse. I knew he was going to be right there coming to the turn, but he just wobbled around it. Once he gathered his legs again he was away." Kennewell said Get The Nod has been entered for Gr1 Cox Plate and Gr1 Caulfield Guineas in the spring. US Ranger, who stands at WinStar Farm in Kentucky at US$5,000, is a Gr1-placed son of Danzig and Red Ransom mare My Anette, a three-quarter sister to champion US sire Dynaformer.
