Samogan Wins Again In South Africa
Australian-bred 4YO gelding Samogan (Flying Spur-Superleggera, by Elusive Quality) continued his impressive recent form when scoring his third straight victory at Vaal in South Africa on Thursday. The Sean Tarry-trained son of Flying Spur led throughout to score by 0.2-length over Vulcan and Stavinsky in a R100,000 1200m Open handicap. The victory boosted his record to 4 wins from 11 starts for over R230,000 prize-money. A $28,000 purchase at the 2012 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Bellerive Stud, Samogan is from the Elusive Quality mare Superleggera making him a three-quarter brother to Widden Stakes-winning filly Georgette Silk. This is also the family of South African Gr1 winner Sydney's Dream, the dam of Arrowfield's Gr1-winning stallion Charge Forward, as well as multiple Group winner Kidman's Cove and Gimcrack Stakes winner Donna Natalia.
