Star Rolling Wins Gr2 PB Lawrence Stakes

Monday, 18th August 2014

At Caulfield, Vinery Stud's Gr1-winning stallion Casino Prince (Flying Spur-Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon) added a Group success when 5YO gelding Star Rolling (Casino Prince-Uneasy, by Zabeel) scored by 0.1-length for trainers Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison in the $200,000 Gr2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) for 3YO+, over 4YO UK-bred entire Spillway (Rail Link-Flower Market, by Cadeaux Genereux) & 6YO mare Gig (Commands-Busking, by Encosta de Lago). Star Rolling took his record to 5 wins (including the Listed Penang Trophy) and 2 placings (including the Gr2 Peter Young Stakes & Gr3 Carlyon Cup) from 12 starts for $345,420 earnings. "We've always had the Caulfield Cup in mind for this horse so that's where we will head," said co-trainer Craig Widdison. Star Rolling was a $155,000 purchase by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Cressfield Stud. From the Zabeel mare Uneasy, Star Rolling hails from the successful New Zealand family of multiple Group-winner Frenetic and Gr1 Thorndon Mile winner Fun On The Run, dam of three-time Gr1-winning mare Tall Poppy.
