Wednesday, 20th August 2014

Australia's Champion Sprinter Elect, Lankan Rupee (Redoute's Choice-Estelle Collection) appears on course for his Spring resumption in the Gr2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on September 6. According to racingnetwork.com.au, the three-time Gr1 winner, and world's highest rated sprinter, finished a pleasing second to Hazard at Cranbourne over 800m yesterday. The trial was run in the fastest time of the morning for the journey, leaving jockey Craig Newitt to comment: "He was there just to have a nice day out... He had a good blow afterwards." Trained by Mick Price and owned by Teeley Assets principal Muzaffar Yaseen, Lankan Rupee is expected to have another trial next Tuesday at Moonee Valley.
