Memsie Next For Sweet Idea

Wednesday, 20th August 2014

Sweet Idea (Snitzel-Flidais, by Timber Country) will have her next start in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 30 August, reports horseracing.com.au. Trainer Gai Waterhouse had originally planned on running Sweet Idea in the Gr2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday but says the 4YO mare has thrived since her first-up win in the Gr2 Missile Stakes (1200m) and deserves another shot at Gr1 glory. "Sweet Idea has thrived since her win in the Missile Stakes and I think she deserves her chance at a Group 1,'' Waterhouse told The Daily Telegraph. "She will leave for Melbourne either Thursday or Friday to prepare for Caulfield next week." If Sweet Idea continues to perform well during the carnival, then a run in the Gr1 Epsom (1600m) at Randwick on 4 October is a possibility. "The Epsom Handicap is a race I think will be right up her alley," Waterhouse said. "It's a race I've won seven times and Sweet Idea is the perfect type of horse for that race."
