Silent Achiever To Trial Today

Wednesday, 20th August 2014

Star kiwi mare Silent Achiever (O'Reilly-Winning Spree, by Zabeel) will have a final hit-out in an 1100m barrier trial at Taupo today to prepare for her return to racing in the Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 30 August, reports horseracing.com.au. The 4-time Gr1 winner, who has not raced since finishing fourth behind It's A Dundeel in the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the autumn, has been in work for nearly three months and trainer Roger James says the daughter of O'Reilly will be in primed for her spring opener on Saturday week. "I am really happy with where we are at with her and I think that her trial tomorrow will really bring her on," James said. "She is going to strike the Memsie in the right order. She has done 11 weeks work now and I looked at my gallops records for last year and I think that we are spot on." James says that Nash Rawiller, who is currently riding in Japan but will head to Hong Kong when that licence expires on 14 September, will be Silent Achiever's main jockey over the spring. "Damien Oliver rides her first-up in the Memsie and then Nash takes over the reins again," James said. "He has dispensation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club to come back for each of her rides again."
