Snitzel Leads Aust Sire Premiership

Friday, 22nd August 2014

We're just three weeks into the new racing season and Arrowfield Stud's Snitzel has opened up a lead of $100,000 over his nearest rival Lonhro on the Australian General Sires Table (according to arion.co.nz as of 21 August 2014). However, it is the performances of two stallions no longer active at stud that deserve special mention. The fact that Darley's deceased stallion Commands and Arrowfield's retired stalwart Flying Spur both occupy Top 5 positions is remarkable, and is testament to their enduring legacies as fine progenitors of high quality stock:

  1. Snitzel - $518,230
  2. Lonhro - $418,109
  3. Commands - $391,510
  4. Fastnet Rock - $376,920
  5. Flying Spur - $343,605
  6. Encosta de Lago - $305,215
  7. Redoute's Choice - $301,838
  8. Choisir - $280,360
  9. Casino Prince - $276,985
  10. Bel Esprit - $276,875
