Waller Says Our Voodoo Prince To Need Run

Friday, 22nd August 2014

Trainer Chris Waller says he is not expecting any first-up heroics from beautifully bred import Our Voodoo Prince when he returns to racing in Saturday's Gr3 Show County Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick, reports horseracing.com.au. The 6YO, who is a Kingmambo half-brother to star Irish colt Australia, is headed towards the Gr1 Caulfield Cup on 18 October so Waller realises he will need a lot more racing before he strikes peak fitness. "This Saturday will tell us where we are at in terms of the start of our prep and he will certainly take a long of benefit from that," said Waller. "If he could run a nice midfield race I would be tickled pink." Our Voodoo Prince has won all three of his starts since arriving in Australia, and was temporarily installed as favourite for the Caulfield Cup after scoring an impressive win in the Gr3 Easter Cup (2000m) at Caulfield in late April. He is now quoted as a general $21 chance.
