Artemis Agrotera Wins US Gr1 Ballerina Stakes

Monday, 25th August 2014

At Saratoga racecourse in the US, 3YO filly Artemis Agrotera (Roman Ruler-Indy Glory, by A.P. Indy) scored by 6.5-lengths for trainer Michael Hushion in the US$500,000 Gr1 Ballerina Stakes (7 furlongs) for 3YO+ fillies and mares, over 5YO mare My Miss Aurelia (Smart Strike-My Miss Storm Cat, by Sea of Secrets) & 6YO mare Willet (Jump Start-Katina K, by Distinctive Pro). This was the second Gr1 victory for Artemis Agrotera who took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr1 Frizette Stakes) from 6 starts for US$763,800 earnings. "This filly has always acted like a special filly every day I've had her," Hushion told bloodhorse.com. "To win a grade I at Saratoga, it doesn't get any better than that." The victory guarantees Artemis Agrotera a start in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita in November.
