Galileo Adds Ireland Gr2

Monday, 25th August 2014

At The Curragh in Ireland, former shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Group success when 2YO colt Gleneagles (Galileo-You'resothrilling, by Storm Cat) scored by 0.75-length for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr2 Futurity Stakes (7 furlongs) for 2YOs, over fellow 2YO colts Vert De Grece (Verglas-Tiny Petal, by Grand Lodge) & Hall Of Fame (Teofilo-Halla Siamsa, by Montjeu). Gleneagles took his record to 3 wins (including the Gr3 Tyros Stakes) from 4 starts for €112,120 earnings. "I'm delighted with that. He quickened up really well, but didn't do much in front. He had to move when the gap opened on the rail," winning trainer Aidan O'Brien told Sky Sports. "He could possibly come back here for the National Stakes, but he has plenty of options. He has plenty of speed."
