Galileo Adds Ireland Gr3

Monday, 25th August 2014

At The Curragh in Ireland, deceased dual-Derby winning stallion & former shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a Group success when 4YO entire Leading Light (Montjeu-Dance Parade, by Gone West) scored by 1.25-lengths in the Gr3 Irish St Leger Trial Stakes (14 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 8YO gelding Royal Diamond (King's Best-Irresistible Jewel, by Danehill) & 8YO mare Shu Lewis (Pyrus-Poppy Lewis, by Paris House). Leading Light boosted his outstanding record to 8 wins (including the Gr1 Ascot Gold Cup, Gr1 English St Leger, Gr3 Gallinule Stakes & Gr3 Queen's Vase) from 10 starts for £713,109 earnings. Aidan O'Brien told Racing Post: "He should come on nicely from that as he's giving a good blow. The (Irish) Leger falls lovely in the second half of the season for him. I don't know where he'll go after that but the main thing is the lads would like him back for Ascot next year. He ran in the Arc last year, but was back a long way. They'll decide where he goes."
