Pale Mimosa May Be Cup Bound

Monday, 25th August 2014

At York in the UK, deceased multiple Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler & Dubai World Cup winner Singspiel (In The Wings-Glorious Song, by Halo) added a Group success when talented 5YO staying mare Pale Mimosa (Singspiel-Katch Me Katie, by Danehill) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Dermot Weld in the €150,000 Gr2 Lonsdale Stakes (16 furlongs) for 3YO+, over fellow 5YO mare Estimate (Monsun-Ebaziya, by Darshaan) & 8YO gelding Times Up (Olden Times-Princess Genista, by Ile de Bourbon). Pale Mimosa took her record to 5 wins (including the Listed Challenge Stakes & Listed Saval Beg Stakes) and 1 placing (the Gr3 Vintage Crop Stakes) from 10 starts for £184,616 earnings. When asked about bringing Pale Mimosa to Australia for the Melbourne Cup, master trainer Dermot Weld said: "We will see. The problem is she loves a bit of ease in the track and the surface today was beautiful. We will sit down and discuss her plans but she is a wonderful staying mare."
