First SH Foal For Azamour

Tuesday, 26th August 2014

The first Southern Hemisphere foal of ill-fated stallion Azamour has been born at Brighthill Farm in New Zealand, reports NZ Racing Desk. The colt is out of the Selkirk mare Franny, who is a full sister to 2013 Champion Turf horse in Canada and Gr1 winner Forte Dei Marmi. Multiple Gr1 winner Azamour (Night Shift-Asmara, by Lear Fan) was euthanised at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud in Ireland in April this year after sustaining a serious injury in his box. Azamour shuttled to Brighthill Farm for the 2013 breeding season with his first and only crop of Southern Hemisphere foals due this spring.
