Haydock Next For Promising Extortionist

Tuesday, 26th August 2014

Extortionist could step up in trip for the Gr1 Sprint Cup (6 furlongs) at Haydock on Saturday week following his excellent third at York on the weekend, reports racinguk.com. The progressive sprinter handled his maiden Gr1 test in style when finishing third behind Sole Power in the Nunthorpe Stakes. Trainer Olly Stevens feels the 3YO Dandy Man colt could be a better horse over six furlongs, with the Sprint Cup the obvious next target. "We were thrilled with him at York," said Stevens. "He took that step up comfortably enough and it looks to me like he now needs six (furlongs). We'll think about Haydock, but the important thing for him is that it needs to be fast."
