Lagardere Next For Wow Signal

Tuesday, 26th August 2014

The Wow Signal (Starspangledbanner-Muravka, by High Chaparral), who gave trainer John Quinn his first Gr1 Flat victory when he saluted in Sunday's Prix Morny at Deauville, is set to step up to seven furlongs for the first time in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on Arc weekend in October, reports racingpost.com. The outstanding son of Starspangledbanner, who is owned by Al Shaqab Racing, is entered in the Dewhurst Stakes (7 furlongs) and the Racing Post Trophy (8 furlongs), but a return to France is the preferred option. Sean Quinn, assistant trainer to his father, said on Monday: "He looked better the further he went and Dad was adamant after the Coventry he was a horse who wants further." He added, "He's out of a High Chaparral mare and I see no reason why he won't stay a mile. He'll certainly step up in trip on his next start. Qatar sponsor the Arc weekend so it would be nice to get him there in tip-top form. That race might be favourite at the moment."
