Moody Bullish About Dissident

Tuesday, 26th August 2014

Meanwhile, trainer Peter Moody is predicting a big spring carnival for smart 3YO Dissident (Sebring-Diana's Secret, by Anabaa) who will return to racing in Saturday's Gr1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, reports racingandsports.com.au. Dissident, winner of last season's Gr1 Randwick Guineas, was set to resume in the Gr2 Warwick Stakes at Randwick on the weekend but was withdrawn due to the heavy track. Moody said the Sebring colt had "trialled enormous" and is expecting a bold showing on Saturday when he clashes with stable-mate Moment Of Change. "I think you will see a pretty imposing individual there next Saturday," he said. "With a run under his belt — and his record at seven furlongs — Moment of Change might be a bit sharp for him [Dissident] around Caulfield, but I think he will run a heck of a race." Moody said Dissident will follow a traditional weight-for-age path to the Cox Plate, with the Memsie to be followed by the Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on 13 September. "I think he will really come into his own in the Makybe — he's going super the colt."
