Richard Pankhurst Sold

Tuesday, 26th August 2014

Leading 2,000 Guineas hope Richard Pankhurst (Raven's Pass-Mainstay, by Elmaamul) has been sold by Rachel Hood, wife of trainer John Gosden, to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, reports racingpost.com. The highly promising juvenile, who defeated subsequent Gr1 winner Dick Whittington in the Listed Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, could make his debut for his new connections in the Gr3 Solario Stakes (7 furlongs) at Sandown on Saturday. However John Ferguson, bloodstock adviser to Sheikh Mohammed, said on Monday: "Richard Pankhurst is entered at the weekend, but there are no thoughts on any future plans as yet." Should Richard Pankhurst run, he would bid to emulate the success of his sire, Raven's Pass, winner of the 2007 Solario. Raven's Pass (Elusive Quality) raced on to become an outstanding 3YO, defeating Henrythenavigator in both the Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes & Breeders' Cup Classic at his final start.
