Wise Dan Works Ahead Of Possible Weekend Return
Two-time US Horse of the Year Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry-Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power) breezed through the fog on the main track at Saratoga racecourse on Sunday morning in preparation for a possible return to racing in the Gr2 Bernard Baruch Handicap on Saturday, reports bloodhorse.com. "It was foggy, so I couldn't see it," said trainer Charlie LoPresti. "But I knew he worked good because I had him in my binoculars and I was trying to find him and everywhere that I thought he would be, he was ahead of my binoculars. He's been working really well." Lopresti said he will enter the 10-time Gr1 winner in Saturday's Baruch, but is still not ruling out a shot at a third successive victory in the Gr1 Woodbine Mile on 14 September. "I would love to run in the Woodbine (Mile). It's a million dollar 'Win and You're In' [Breeders' Cup automatic entry] race, but he's already here and it makes no sense to go back to Kentucky and then go to Canada," LoPresti said. "Who knows? If it's an easy race (in the Baruch), maybe he'll go from here and run in Canada." Should he run on the weekend, it will be Wise Dan's first race since undergoing colic surgery in May.
