Cirrus To Target Fourth Dollar

Wednesday, 27th August 2014

Cirrus Des Aigles (Even Top-Taille De Guepe, by Septieme Ciel) is on the road to recovery with trainer Corine Barande-Barbe targeting a fourth victory in the Prix Dollar at Longchamp on 4 October before a likely return to Ascot for the Gr1 Champion Stakes, reports racinguk.com. The French star has not been seen in competition since suffering an injury when winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom in early June, his sixth win at Gr1 level. The 8YO won the Champion Stakes in 2011 and chased home Frankel and Farhh respectively in the last two renewals. Barande-Barbe is keen on another tilt at Champion Stakes, which takes place on Britain's richest race day of the year, British Champions Day, on 18 October. "He is very well and is back doing canters," said the trainer. "Our plan is to run in the Prix Dollar and then hopefully go back to Ascot for the Champion Stakes."
