Hayes Close To Buying German Stayer

Thursday, 28th August 2014

David Hayes is in talks to purchase highly promising German stayer Sirius (Dashing Blade-Saratina, by Monsun), reports racingnetwork.com.au. The son of Dashing Blade has won 3 of his 5 starts, with his most recent outing resulting in a maiden Gr1 victory in the Grosser Preis von Berlin (2400m) at Hoppegarten. Currently trained by Andreas Lowe, Sirius has been nominated for the Caulfield Cup under the names of co-trainers Hayes and Tom Dabernig. "We should know in the next 24-36 hours, we are in deep negotiations, and if we get him, I want him to be in the Caulfield Cup," Hayes said. "I took the liberty of paying up for him in the case that we do secure him." Hayes said Sirius was identified by bloodstock agent Rob Roulston, who found Americain for Gerry Ryan and Kevin Bamford.
