Rising Romance To Trial Friday

Thursday, 28th August 2014

Australian Oaks winner Rising Romance (Ekraar-Post Romance, by Postponed) will return to the scene of her classic autumn victory when she trials at Randwick on Friday, reports theinformant.co.nz. The Donna and Dean Logan-trained 4YO will fly from Auckland to Sydney today as she steps up preparations for an ambitious spring campaign aimed at the $2.5 million Gr1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on 18 October. "I'm very happy with her, she's galloping super and looking great," said Donna Logan, who will also travel to Sydney to supervise the Ekraar mare's trial. "She runs over 1200 metres on Friday and James (McDonald) will ride her. We're hoping he'll be able to stick with her, but that will depend on his other commitments." Before venturing south to Melbourne, Rising Romance will have three runs in Sydney beginning with the Gr3 Tramway Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week, followed by the Gr1 George Main Stakes (1600m) and Gr3 Craven Plate (2000m). "It's always been the plan to start her off in Sydney," Logan added. "We want her to be peaking when we get to Melbourne and the races in Sydney suit. The only worry is the weather, but hopefully it will clear and once it does those tracks come right pretty quickly."
