Puissance In Top Shape For Memsie

Friday, 29th August 2014

Brad Rawiller says he is expecting an improved showing from Puissance De Lune (Shamardal-Princess Serena, by Unbridled's Song) in Saturday's first Gr1 race of the season, the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield. Puissance De Lune finished sixth, beaten 2.4-lengths, behind Star Rolling when resuming in the Gr2 PB Lawrence Stakes on 16 August after racing wide without cover. "Circumstances didn't work for us first up, he wasn't beaten far and he was always going to be better for that run," Rawiller told racingnetwork.com.au. "Saturday is going to be a tougher race, but in all likelihood it will suit him over that trip. He just needs things to go his way and if they do you know he's going to be running home hard." Trainer Darren Weir says he is pleased with the progress of the Irish-bred import, which looked good in an exercise gallop at Warrnambool on Monday. "I thought Puissance De Lune galloped really well, he's switching off now," Weir said. "He's in great order. I hope he runs well so he can go on to the Makybe Diva, which is the race we've set him for."
