Monday, 2nd March 2015

At Sha Tin in Hong Kong, dual Gr1-winning shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill-L'On Vite, by Secretariat) celebrated a Gr1 success when 5YO Irish-bred gelding Designs On Rome (Holy Roman Emperor-Summer Trysting, by Alleged) scored by 1.25-lengths for trainer John Moore in the HK$10 million Gr1 Hong Kong Gold Cup (2000m), over fellow 5YO gelding Helen Super Star (War Front-Black Speck, by Arch) & 6YO gelding Blazing Speed (Dylan Thomas-Leukippids, by Sadler's Wells). Designs On Rome took his record to 9 wins (including the Gr1 QEII Cup, Gr1 Hong Kong Cup, Gr1 Hong Kong Derby & Gr1 Hong Kong Classic Cup) & 6 placings (including the Gr1 Hong Kong Classic Mile) from 20 starts for €4,857,460 earnings. John Moore's charge is now booked for a date in Dubai, his next target being the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic (2410m) at Meydan in four weeks' time. "As I said going into the race, I thought he was the fittest he has been all season and he showed everybody just that," said Moore. "We'll just make sure there is nothing amiss with him now and we will aim to have him in the same condition when we present him for the Dubai Sheema Classic."
