Sabatini Wins Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes

Monday, 2nd March 2015

At Caulfield in Melbourne, Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Group success when 3YO filly Sabatini (Street Cry-Royal Sash, by Royal Academy) scored by 1-length for trainers Lee and Shannon Hope in the $200,000 Gr2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow 3YO fillies Fontein Ruby (Turffontein-Charming Ruby, by Rubiton) & Samartested (Testa Rossa-Samar, by Secret Savings). Sabatini took her record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Kevin Hayes Stakes & Gr3 Quezette Stakes) and 3 placings (including the Gr1 Thousand Guineas) from 8 starts for $376,775 earnings. Co-trainer Shannon Hope said Sabatini would have her next start in either the Gr2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on 14 March, or the Gr1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on the same day. "Every time we raise the bar, she keeps stepping up and I feel there is more improvement in her," Hope told TVN. Sabatini, who was passed in for $90,000 at the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud, is the fifth foal to race from the Gr3 Mannerism Stakes winner Royal Sash (Royal Academy), and is a half-sister to Gr3 SAJC The Jansz winner Vivi Veloce (More Than Ready) and the stakes-placed Just Been Lucky (Encosta de Lago).
