International Named World's Best Race
The Juddmonte International at York has been ranked as the best race in the world by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, reports racingpost.com. The Gr1 run over 10 furlongs each year at the Ebor meeting, has beaten events such as the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Breeders' Cup Classic and Japan Cup to earn the title of the world's top thoroughbred race. The ranking system is based on the first four horses past the winning post for the last three editions of each race. In recent years the International has been won by star gallopers Australia, Declaration Of War and the mighty Frankel, who have all contributed to the event's prestigious standing. Nick Rust, chief executive of the BHA said: "That a British race should again top the world rankings is very encouraging and a further reminder of the strength and quality of racing staged here."
