Deep Field To Miss Challenge

Thursday, 5th March 2015

Deep Field (Northern Meteor-Listen Here, by Elusive Quality) will wait another week before making his next racetrack appearance after the highly regarded sprinter was a non acceptor in Saturday's Gr2 Challenge Stakes at Randwick, reports racingandsports.com.au. "He will not run on the weekend. He might step out next week in a Group 3 1100m (Maurice McCarten Stakes) race or may go straight into the Galaxy (Gr1)," co-trainer Michael Hawkes told Sky Sports Radio. "We're keeping all options open. The horse is great and is going really well. He is back in Sydney now and back in his old box." He added, "He has settled back in, he is bright and well but we just felt waiting another week was the right thing to for the horse at this point in time." Deep Field will be out to restore his reputation as one of Australia's most exciting racehorses after being well beaten by star sprinter Lankan Rupee in the Gr1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes two weeks ago. The Gr1 The Galaxy (1100m) will be run at Rosehill Gardens on 21 March.
