Thee Auld Floozie Wins Gr3 Sunline Vase

Thursday, 5th March 2015

At Ellerslie in New Zealand, 4-time Gr1-winning NZ Windsor Park shuttler & former European Champion 2YO Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer-Starlight Dreams, by Black Tie Affair) added a Group success when 3YO filly The Auld Floozie (Mastercraftsman-Thee Auld Hussie, by Spinning World) scored by a long head for trainer Stephen Marsh in the NZ$70,000 Gr3 Sunline Vase (2100m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Saavoya (Savabeel-Royal Prize, by Prized) & Charmont (High Chaparral-Martique, by Danehill). This was the first stakes victory for Thee Auld Floozie who took her record to 4 wins and 1 placing from 9 starts for NZ$93,460 earnings. The Auld Floozie is out of the Spinning World mare Thee Auld Hussie, winner of the Listed Manawatu Breeders' Stakes (2000m) and Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup (1600m). "She got a nice run behind Saavoya and out-toughed her in the straight," trainer Stephen Marsh told NZ Racing Desk. "She's got such a good temperament that if she draws a nice alley in the Oaks she'll go to sleep and she's got to be a good chance." Thee Auld Floozie is now the joint $7 third favourite with Platinum Witness for the Oaks behind Savaria ($4) and Saavoya ($6). The Gr1 New Zealand Oaks will be run at Trentham on 14 March.
