Monday, 9th March 2015

At Flemington in Melbourne, Darley's former Champion Australian Sire Exceed And Excel (Danehill-Patrona, by Lomond) added a black-type success when smart 4YO mare Chloe In Paris (Exceed and Excel-Innovation Girl, by Rubiton) scored by 0.75-length for trainer Ciaron Maher in the $120,000 Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) for 3YO+, over 5YO mare Peron (Husson-Faster Pussycat, by Flying Spur) & 5YO gelding Flamberge (Exceed and Excel-Razor Blade, by Blazing Sword). This was a well deserved maiden stakes victory for Chloe In Paris who took her record to 3 wins and 3 placings (including the Gr3 Quezette Stakes) from 7 starts for $185,525 earnings. Trainer Ciaron Maher said that Chloe In Paris, who is a daughter of multiple Group-winning sprinter Innovation Girl, could step up to Gr1 company at next start in the William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley. "We'll just sit down after this and figure out what we do. This was a real target race for her," Maher told TVN. "I've nominated her for the TJ Smith (Gr1) in Sydney and races like that but it's one race at a time with her."
