Danesiri Retired

Wednesday, 11th March 2015

Meanwhile, trainer John Thompson says that First Seal's stable-mate Danesiri, a last-start winner of the Gr3 Guy Walter Stakes, will be retired immediately after she bowed a tendon at trackwork yesterday morning. Danesiri (Home on the Grange-Lea Tonde, by Filante) was preparing to make her Gr1 debut in the Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday. "It's very disappointing - racing can be a great leveller," Thompson told racingnetwork.com.au. "She worked fine but once she cooled down we noticed all wasn't right." He added, "It's a shame for her owners because they were really looking forward to their opportunity in a Group 1." Danesiri retires with 7 wins from 37 starts and over $270,000 prize money. Apart from her career-best victory in the Gr3 Guy Walter Stakes at Warwick Farm, she also boasts placings in the Gr3 Angst Stakes and Gr3 Triscay Stakes.
