Khan Touches Down In Sydney

Wednesday, 11th March 2015

New Zealand Derby hero Mongolian Khan (Holy Roman Emperor-Centafit, by Centaine) has arrived in Sydney where he will prepare for a tilt at the $2 million Gr1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Royal Randwick on 4 April, reports NZ Racing Desk. The classy colt has settled in well at the Warwick Farm stable of Bjorn Baker, the son of Mongolian Khan's co-trainer Murray Baker. "He travelled over really well on Monday morning and had a walk and a pick on Monday afternoon," said Andrew Forsman, who trains in partnership with Baker senior. "He ate all his feed and worked a round on Tuesday morning and we couldn't be happier with him." Forsman said the stable was yet to decide whether Mongolian Khan would have a prep run in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on 21 March before tackling the Derby on the opening day of The Championships.
