No Newmarket For Earthquake

Wednesday, 11th March 2015

John O'Shea will avoid throwing Earthquake (Exceed and Excel-Cataclysm, by Marauding) in against the world's best sprinters in Saturday's Gr1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington, preferring instead to run last season's star 2YO in the Listed MSS Security Stakes (1100m) on the same program. Last year's Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner resumed with a disappointing effort when 10th behind Shamal Wind in the Gr1 Oakleigh Plate two weeks, and O'Shea is keen to restore her confidence. "No way she'll run in the Newmarket," Godolphin's head trainer told racingnetwork.com.au. "She'll run in the other race. We just need to get her back into a winning frame of mind and this looks the right race." He added, "She's got a lot of weight (60.5kg) and they have to carry it, but she's certainly deserved it."
