First Sydney Ride For Buick

Thursday, 12th March 2015

British-based jockey William Buick had his first experience of Sydney racing yesterday and says he is looking forward to riding for Godolphin over the rest of the autumn carnival. Buick was due to ride Hexagonal for John O'Shea in the opening race, but after the 3YO filly was scratched rival trainer Chris Waller jumped at the chance to secure Buick's services to ride 2YO filly Navua Mist in race two. Despite a disappointing sixth place finish, the world-class hoop said he was excited at the opportunity to once again be riding in Australia. "I've got a few more race days over here this time, (including) the Golden Slipper obviously, so it's exciting times," he said. Buick, who has ridden in Australia twice before in the Melbourne Cup, will have his first Sydney rides for Godolphin at Rosehill on Saturday when he partners Tarquin and Igraine.
