Hvasstan To Stand At Clear Mountain Fairview

Friday, 13th March 2015

Queensland has snared a well credentialled son of Fastnet Rock for 2015, following the announcement that Victorian Gr3 winner Hvasstan (Fastnet Rock-Snow Hero, by True Hero) will retire to stud at Clear Mountain Fairview, on the Darling Downs, at the conclusion of his Queensland winter carnival campaign. The Group-winning son of champion sire Fastnet Rock and from True Hero mare, Snow Hero, Hvasstan, will contest his final racing campaign in the stable of Queensland's leading trainer Tony Gollan, after connections confirmed a decision to stand the stallion in Queensland. Hvasstan commenced his racing career as a three-year-old and quickly showed substance as a stallion prospect when he conquered all the Victorian three-year-old middle distance races of his season as well as saluting in the Group 3 MRC Norman Robinson Stakes over 2000 metres. Hvasstan then lined up in the $1.5million Group 1 VRC Derby as one of the race favorites and ran a gallant unlucky fourth behind multiple Group 1 winners Fiveandahalfstar and Super Cool, who were benchmark three-year-old's of the season and both weight-for-age (WFA) winners and well credentialed racehorses. A $260,000 Inglis Melbourne Premier graduate purchased by Manny Gelagotis, and trained by Peter Gelagotis, Hvasstan's debut fee has been set at $4,400.
