Pasadena Girl Wins Gr3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes
At Flemington in Melbourne, Waikato Stud's Cox Plate winning stallion Savabeel (Zabeel-Savannah Success, by Success Express) added a Group success when 2YO filly Pasadenas Girl (Savabeel-Nina From Pasadena, by Redoute's Choice) scored by 0.2-length for trainer Peter Moody in the $150,000 Gr3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes (1200m) for 2YO fillies, over fellow fillies Air Apparent (Snitzel-Elusive Air, by Elusive Quality) & Pursuits (Lonhro-Montmelo, by Viscount). Pasadena Girl, who was a $25,000 purchase by Moody Racing at the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Eliza Park International, took her record to 2 wins (including the Listed Talindert Stakes) from 2 starts for 163,500 earnings. "She probably stamped herself with a bit of class today. She was going backwards and sideways at the 200 metres and was still able to get out and beat them," trainer Peter Moody told TVN. "We had a healthy opinion of her before her first race and we probably walk away with a healthier one today." he added, "She's doing what her pedigree suggests she probably shouldn't be, so it leads you to think that she has a pretty good future ahead of her." Pasadena Girl's fifth dam is Reprocolor - one of the foundation mares for the Weinfeld family's Meon Valley Stud in England, which counts among its alumni top-class European Gr1-winners Opera House, Kayf Tara, Cezanne, and Colorspin - hence Moody's belief that the talented filly will excel once she gets out over ground.
