Adelaide To Miss George Ryder

Wednesday, 18th March 2015

Cox Plate winner Adelaide (Galileo-Elletelle, by Elnadim) will miss Saturday's George Ryder Stakes to be saved for the $4 million Gr1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on the final day of The Championships (11 April). "The final decision will be down to the trainer Chris Waller but it's highly unlikely he will run in the George Ryder," Coolmore racing manager James Bester told RSN radio yesterday. "He doesn't need a race to bring him on for the Queen Elizabeth." Adelaide was reunited with Ryan Moore in a gallop at Rosehill yesterday morning, with the champion English jockey reporting that he was happy with the horse's condition. "Ryan was delighted with his gallop this morning. He was up against a horse who was beaten a nose in a 1300 metre Group One last start (Catkins) so you would expect her to be in front," Bester said. "He is a naturally clean winded horse and the George Ryder would have just been a preparatory race and he doesn't need it."
