Chloe In Paris Aiming For Galaxy Start

Friday, 20th March 2015

Trainer Ciaron Maher is hoping that richly talented sprinting mare Chloe In Paris (Exceed and Excel-Innovation Girl, by Rubiton) can force her way into tomorrow's Gr1 Galaxy field at Rosehill Gardens, reports racing.com. The daughter of multiple Group-winning sprinter Innovation Girl is unbeaten in three starts this campaign, including the last-start Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) at Flemington. Maher had also entered the 4YO in the opening race on Golden Slipper day - the Gr3 Birthday Card Stakes - but scratched her in the hope of gaining a Galaxy berth. He said if she happens to miss out on the Galaxy, he will target the Gr1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday 27 March. "We're going to try and get a run in the The Galaxy (1100m) and if we can't we'll go to the William Reid (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Friday week," Maher said. "She's in great form and The Galaxy is a race that we'd really like to get into because she's drawn well and she gets in really well at the weights with 52kg." He added, "If we don't get in, then she goes well at Moonee Valley so we'll roll the dice and give her a chance there."
