Preakness Hero Pine Bluff Dies

Friday, 20th March 2015

Pine Bluff (Danzig-Rowdy Angel, by Halo) has died in the US. Winner of the Gr1 Preakness Stakes (second leg of the US 3YO Triple Crown – see below) in 1992 when ridden by Chris McCarron, Pine Bluff enjoyed a successful stallion career at Lane's End Farm, siring 32 individual stakes-winners before being retired in 2006. Finishing fifth in the Gr1 Kentucky Derby and third in the Gr1 Belmont Stakes, Pine Bluff earned his connections a US$1 million bonus by accumulating the most points for the 1992 Triple Crown series. According to bloodhorse.com, Pine Bluff's death was reported by his final owner, Danny Fred Duncan of Duncan 21 and Change Farm in Kentucky. Pine Bluff, 25, was a full-brother to the dam of Coolmore's Kentucky Derby-winning shuttler Fusaichi Pegasus.
