Vet Check Later In Week For Rising Romance
Meanwhile, Donna Logan reported to Racing NSW stewards that star Kiwi mare Rising Romance had a bruised near fore heel following Saturday's Gr3 Epona Stakes at Rosehill. Rising Romance, who finished a narrow second to the Mick Kent-trained Scratchy Bottom, also sustained a minor laceration to her near foreleg. She will be inspected later in the week by Racing NSW vets ahead of a likely start in the $1.5 million Gr1 BMW (2400m) at Rosehill on Saturday. "As long as she is OK she will definitely run in the BMW," Logan said. The diagnosis would explain jockey James McDonald's post-race observations that Rising Romance did not stretch out as well as expected on the firm Rosehill surface.
