Hogan Delighted At Local Industry Success
Meanwhile, Cambridge Stud principal Sir Patrick Hogan has been quick to see the bigger picture in the wake of resident sire Tavistock's first Group One success, reports NZ Racing Desk. While taking enormous personal satisfaction from the Rosehill Guineas victory of Volkstok'n'barrell, Hogan understand more than anyone the importance of ongoing overseas success. "From a New Zealand perspective, it doesn't matter whose stallions they are, we've just got to keep these young ones coming through," Sir Patrick said. "It's great for Cambridge Stud and all the connections of Tavistock and it's absolutely fantastic for the domestic industry. It's not getting any easier for trainers, owners or breeders, but we all continue to step up and compete in Australia where our record is amazing." He added, "We've had Zabeel, Sir Tristram and O'Reilly, but they are no longer around. We've got Savabeel and others coming along and it's great to see Sam Williams' young horse Per Incanto and ours doing the job - we desperately need them."
