Smart Filly To Rip At Ellerslie
Shaune Ritchie is preparing for a scouting mission to Auckland with his brilliant debut winner Let Her Rip (Rip Van Winkle-Keeper Special, by Keeper), reports NZ Racing Desk. The Cambridge trainer produced the filly for a first-up success at Matamata where she overcame an interrupted run to win easily by 2-lengths. "She was impressive and she came out of it well. It was a soft sort of kill and she'll go to Ellerslie for the two-year-old race over 1300 metres on Easter Monday," Ritchie said. "I want her to have a look around there – I think she's good enough to be back next season for the better races." He added, "She's won well left-handed at Matamata and I want her to go right-handed – some of them can get a bit lost first time, but I'm hoping her talent will pull her through." Let Her Rip is from the first Southern Hemisphere crop of Windsor Park Stud shuttler Rip Van Winkle, a Coolmore-owned son of Galileo who won three Gr1s, namely the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Sussex Stakes, and Juddmonte International Stakes.
